Teacher Internship Opportunity:
We are seeking a teacher to complete an internship with us this summer and into the fall to help develop a new MedTech BTTI workshop. Learn more here.
BTTI 6.0 participants:
We are currently working with a team of project evaluation interns to gather data on this year's program and generate the program evaluation. Please send along any evidence that they could use- photos, lab reflections, student work samples, pre/post assessments, and quotes about your experience. Please email these to Megan ASAP.
BTTI 7.0
We are in the planning stages for next year's workshop series, and will announce the plan in the July newsletter. If you are interested in next year's program, please fill out the form below, and we will contact you as soon as the full application opens.
The NSF Engineering Research Center for Cell Manufacturing Technologies (CMaT) is offering a half-day virtual workshop for high school STEM teachers on July 9, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 EST. In this professional development activity, teachers will get acquainted with cell and gene therapy manufacturing research, learn about summer research opportunities available for teachers and students, and gain awareness of biomanufacturing career opportunities for HS graduates. Teachers will also have the opportunity to network with their peers across CMaT campuses. Each teacher will be provided with a stipend of $250.
Join us for an advanced biotechnology workshop at Lambert High School, held the week of June 23rd through 27th. 2024 Biotech TOTY Emily Gunderson will lead the workshop which will demonstrate techniques in applied microbiology, protein manufacturing and CRISPR. This workshop is for any teacher who is comfortable with the skills covered in RTTI/BTTI Level 1 (Biotech Infusion) and is looking to incorporate more biotech into their classrooms. We are building in time for collaboration within subjects and will feature speakers throughout the week to discuss classroom support and applications of the labs in Georgia's life sciences industry.
One way to stretch your school budget is through DonorsChoose, a nonprofit organization where anyone can give directly to support public school classroom projects. Ward’s Science and Georgia Bio are partnering to host a DonorsChoose workshop to tell you more about this amazing opportunity.
Participants will walk through the process of posting a project on DonorsChoose and will leave the workshop with at least one project submitted to DonorsChoose. Applying costs nothing other than a brief amount of time to complete your application.
When: July 24th or August 19th from 4 to 5 pm
Where: Virtual (Teams)
Pre-workshop activities: 1. Determine a wish list of projects/items for your class 2. Look up the items on Wards Science that you would like to request. Optional: Bring a photo of your students working on a relevant project.
Come "shop" at the Equipment Depot! We have received several large donations in the past month, including many types of consumables (pipette tips, kimwipes, PCR plates, microtubes, pillow bags, biohazard bags, face shields and surgical masks) and boxes upon boxes of healthcare supplies.
